于励民博士毕业于南京大学医学院(七年制)医疗系。在美经过病理住院医生和皮肤病理专科训练。开始在新墨西哥大学附属医院工作,现任奥克兰大学助理教授、博蒙特医院病理医师和皮肤专科病理医师。另外于博士还拥有计算机硕士学位,从事许多医学大数据的研发。
于博士非常关注中国病理医学的发展,利用他皮肤病理和计算机知识的专长,花大量时间创制了系列视频“皮肤病理的那些事”,视频集知识性和趣味性为一体,是非常好的教育材料,这些视频在美国的华人病理界广为流传。于博士还在维基网站收集世界各地医学术语的发音,惠及161个国家和地区的25000多名访问人员。
