Wei Sun, MD

Dr. Sun obtained her medical degree from Shantou University medical college in China in 1982; and she had her internal medicine residency training in Guangzhou first Municipal Hospital and hematology fellowship training in Beijing Medical University. After she came to the United States, Dr. Sun completed her anatomy and clinical pathology residency training at Louisiana State University, followed by a fellowship in Cytopathology as well as a fellowship in Oncology Surgical Pathology at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Texas. She is board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, as well as Cytopathology by American Board of Pathology and certified by International Academy of Cytology.

Dr. Sun joined the New York University Faculty since 2004, and now she is associate professor of pathology/cytopathology, mainly doing FNA and Exfoliative cytology. Her special expertise in Cytologic diagnosis is thyroid, lung and pancreas. In addition, she performs fine needle aspiration by palpation and by ultrasound guidance.

Dr. Sun has many publications and workshops in American national meetings. She won an award of “Honorable Mention” in Papanicolaou Society of Cytopathology.
